These quaint restaurants located on the main streets of Seminyak, Sanur and Kuta have some of the best Indian food around serving typical Tandoori dishes with a choice of lentils.
Highly recommended are their Doasas which are like giant stuffed Crepes and come with choice stuffing. One of most popular is the Potato Dosa which is flavoured with many excotic spices. The menu is quite extensive offering a large variety of both meat and vegetarian selections. A popular dish is a Chicken Tikka – boneless grilled chicken cooked in traditional clay oven in a delightful tomato sauce with green chilies, cream and boiled egg.
The atmosphere here is informal, dinner can walk in anytime for a bite to eat or a cold beer. The traditional Indian decor is colorful with an open-air environment. If you are not fan of Bintang Beer the Storm Ales are on the menu as well as a selection of wine and spirits, cocktails and mixers. Along with alcoholic drinks there is also a good variety of fruit drinks and traditional lassy drinks. The mango lassy – homemade yogurt blended together with fresh mango at Gateway of India is a must try during the season.

Ask almost any seasoned dining veteran on the island, expatriate or visitor, which restaurant has one of the best beach view and the answer will, invariably, be Gado Gado. The restaurant has been a fixture on many a visitor’s to do list whilst on vacation in Seminyak since it relaunched itself several years ago as a ‘fine dining’ eatry – immedietly proving itself as an incredibly popular sundown dining destination. From the entree selection the Foie Gras Terrine with vanilla, fig compote, herb salad and toasted brioche is palatable but nowhere near as rewarding as the excellent Cerviche of Fresh Sea Bass with fresh herb and a sour dough crumble. The choice of mains is split into two categories – fish and poultry, and is no more complicated than the variety of entrees on offer. The Roasted Duck Breast with red cabbage, caramelized apple, pommes salardise and cumin jus is a delight. The Salmon Confit with braised lettuce and tarragon vinaigrette is also a good option, and once again, help is on hand from the sommelier for a suggested pairing. Dessert recomendations include an excellen Vanilla infused Creme Brulee rounding off an impressive dinne menu with an equally entciting lunch selection also available.

The Slow-Roasted Lamb Shanks remain the most popular item on the dinner menu, or meat lovers can opt for the imported Char Grilled Sirloin Steak with garlic mashed potatoes and an oven-roasted onion and red pepper jus. For dessert the Orange Cheesecake and Caramelized Apple Tart are firm favorites. The relaxed and very casual atmosphere at Artini is conducive to a very chilled evening out in Seminyak. The martinis are great and include many new combination including nutty and cranbery varieties.
